What is an OMIP?
Optimized Multicolor Immunofluorescence Panel (OMIP) is a special type of scientific publication proposed by the journal Cytometry Part A, which presents rigorously optimized panels for flow cytometry and other fluorescence-based methods.
An OMIP consists of two parts:
i. A two-page printed component, which includes basic information such as the title, a summary table, a brief description, a reagent table, a staining figure as an example, and a detailed comparison with similar OMIPs.
An online component that includes a significant amount of technical detail, such as the panel development strategy, cross-references to related panels, the exact staining protocol, instrument configuration, and reagent information.
How can an OMIP help me?
OMIPs can help us minimize the planning time for flow cytometry panels, since we can find already optimized panels that meet our needs. Furthermore, they can be starting points for building new panels and also allow us to recognize, through citations, who developed them.
